BikerDown Foundation is a charity that helps injured motorcycle riders. In 2011, our Colorado community lost 2 motorcycle riders who left behind a grieving mother and small children. We knew that these families wouldn't have a good Christmas. So as most motorcycle riders do, we grabbed a fake tree and put gift cards up at our local biker bar, and gave these families a the best Christmas they could have considering the loss they had just incurred.
From that point on each year, BikerDown has reached out the motorcycle community and local businesses for assistance to adopt more families outside of just our injured motorcycle community. Since 2012, almost 750 families have been adopted by this organization. Our community made sure that Santa didn't forget their families address and that for 1 day or holiday, the parents didn't have to stress on how they were going to provide Christmas under the tree.
Each family receives a $275.00 Walmart gift card, food to take home and prepare a holiday dinner at their home. This also ensures that any child that might be on a school lunch program will not go hungry during holiday break. Most importantly, the children get to spend an afternoon with Santa Clause and open up presents. We create a winter wonderland where children can be safe and happy.
I want to share with everyone our community partnerships and team leaders who help BikerDown each year achieve these goals.
